Ship steel is usually referred to the structure steel of hull. It is a kind of steel which is used in manufacturing hull structure according to requirements constructing ship. Generally, ship steel includes ship steel plate, seamless steel pipe and section steel like flat bulb steel, angle steel, steel flat bar and T-shaped steel.

The strength of Hull steel is divided into general strength structure steel and high strength structure steel according to the smallest yield point. In China classification society standard, general strength structure steel has four quality grades: A, B, C and D and high strength structure steel has three strength grades and four quality grades.
